Forward in Faith Campaign Survey

As part of the Forward in Faith Campaign, please take a moment to fill out a brief survey this morning. Paper surveys are available at the back of the church. We want to hear from both husbands and wives. Your feedback will be valuable as we make plans for the future of our parish. Please fold your completed paper survey and place in the basket at the back of the church.

To download the survey in Acrobat [pdf] format, please click the following link: OLL FIF Survey.

Confirmation News

We will meet on Sunday, January 27 from 7 until 8 p.m. in Room 106 at O’Hara High School. Sponsors are welcome, but not required, to join us.

If you haven’t paid your retreat and Confirmation fee yet, please bring it to the January 27 meeting, along with your individual service and small group activity trackers.

Our retreat is scheduled for March 9 from 8 until 3 p.m. at the Catholic Center. All candidates need to make sure they have cleared the day to attend. Parents will provide transportation for the day.

Renewing Baptism: Decree and Observances for the Year of Faith

The Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph set a day in the spring, Sunday, March 10, 2013, through the Sunday morning Masses until 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon, when I invite and encourage all the faithful to visit, if possible, the church of their baptism, and make the profession of faith in any legitimate form, and receive the Year of Faith indulgence.

Many may have been baptized far away, or circumstances may prohibit them from making
a longer pilgrimage. In those cases each person may make a visit at one of the Cathedrals or other designated churches. If that is impossible then you may make the ‘pilgrimage’ at your parish church.

Understanding Lent — Fasting

Q. I understand that Catholics ages 18 to 59 should fast on Ash Wednesday and on Good Friday, but what exactly are the rules for these fasts?

A. Fasting on these days means we can have only one full, meatless meal. Some food can be taken at the other regular meal times if necessary, but combined they should be less than a full meal. Liquids are allowed at any time, but no solid food should be consumed between meals.

Visit http://www.usccb.org/ for more Lenten information.
